Here is one way I used to use to make a quick buck or two when I lived just outside of Dallas Texas.

I would go onto Craigslist and search the free section. If you live in or near a major Metro area, go check this out. If you haven’t seen it, you’ll be amazed at what people are trying to get rid off. They are practically begging other people to come and get their stuff!

Okay, for example, I just took a look at the free section there and here is what the first 5 listings are trying to give away.

1. Free TV. 32 inch Samsung TV, not sure if it works and has some damage.
2. 52 inch projection TV. Worked the last time they used it
3. Wooden childs playset. This is one of those expensive outdoor swing/jungle Jim/slides
4. Maytag heavy duty washer. Needs belts and 2 speed motor
5. Dora the Explorer cake pan

Do you see what I see in just these 5 things? If you saying anything less than a thousand bucks, you need to think outside the box! If I still did this part time, I would be on my way to pick all that stuff up.

Then once I had it picked up, the stuff that needed cleaned or repaired I’d get that done. Then everything get’s re-listed on Craigslist for sale. The cake pan would probably go on eBay since it’s rather small and would appeal to a wide audience. The most valuable thing here in my experience is the play set. Next would be the heavy duty washer. And you now what, most of my cost would be just for gas going and picking that stuff up!

One thing that you will want to make sure that you do is get a license to operate your business. You can go to the court house in your area where they deal with business taxes and business license and purchase a license so that you will be able to open a business bank account.

You will need an account to keep all of your personal funds separate from the revenue that your business generates. As you know, there are several things that you will need to purchase in order to run your business. Some of these items will be tax deductible so you will want to have a record of them in a business bank account so that you will be able to deduct them from your taxes. You will also want to be able to keep up with the profits that you business brings in.

There are a lot of other things that you will have to do in order to run a successful home decorating business. You will be able to do something that you love to do and make a great income to support your family with. You will want to make sure that you take the time to learn everything that you will need to do in order to business decorating homes for others. Once you have everything in order you will be on the right track to run a business that will support you for the rest of your life.

If you have been thinking about MLM (multi-level marketing) as a way to have a work from home job this could be a great idea or a nightmare depending on what type of person you are.  This type of business is basically sales.  You need to sell people on the product or you need to sell people on the idea of joining your organization.  If you don’t like sales then you will not like network marketing.

One of the most difficult aspects of building this kind of business is finding other people who want to put in the effort and work which is required to be successful.  Your best bet is to find people in your area who you can share the opportunity with.  Using these local mlm leads is easier because you have something in common, your local geography and culture.  It is much easier to talk to someone who has shared experiences than it is to talk to a person from the other side of the country or the other side of the world.  That being said, if you don’t like meeting people and communicating with them then you will never be as successful in this business as someone who does.

Find our what you are good at and then develop a work from home job that will fit in with your personality.  You will be happier and more successful.

Yes, it can work.  And yes, it’s a great idea to get my site up on the search engine result pages.  But submitting website to Google is not as effective as it seems.

If I have a reasonably new site – or a reasonably small site – then I’m probably not going to be listed on Google’s results yet.  If I’m looking for more people on my site, then I’ll need Google’s help.  But if I think I can make money Google just throws at my site, I’m dreaming.  I’m going to need to put forth some effort or funding of my own.

Submitting to Google isn’t difficult, and it’s completely free.  This may indicate just how effective it really is in the long run.  While Google promises to get my site up on its results, they don’t really say how long that will take.  They also don’t promise that my site is going to be anywhere people will actually see it on those results, which means my site may end up as number 5,000 out of 5,650.  Nobody scrolls through that many results.

If I want my site to show up as one of the first on the search engine results, I’m going to need a lot of links to it.  That means the most popular sites are going to get the most attention.   And Google Submit is all about gaining popularity in the first place.  So what am I supposed to do?  Avoid Google Submit, and use a more effective advertising program, like AdWords.  All submitting my site will do is give Google my URL.  If I want to really improve my site, I’m going to have to work harder than that.

Content. You must have good content in order to improve your web site rankings in order to gain more visibility from the search engines. The web site crawlers will look for web sites that have updated content along with the right type of keywords and search terms. The content you post should be relevant, not just listed to gain money off the page views and Google AdSense. If you post just to make money, Google has crawlers that will detect it and they will remove you from their search engine directory.

Backlinks. Earning money will only come if you can get people to go to your web site and click on the links. You have to have a large number of backlinks to gain recognition from Google. When you have credible sites feeding into your site, Google will see this as a good site and they will reward you with points, which help to improve your PageRank status. Write a blog or some articles and publish them on other sites to improve your backlink status. Talk to other people you associate with to see if they will post a link to your web site from theirs. This is a simple way to improve your PageRank.

Advertising. To help you make money Google offers several different programs. Use the Google AdSense program to earn money off advertising. You will be paid each time a person clicks on an ad that is published on your site. To gain traffic, use the Google AdWords program to participate in a pay-per-click program that allows your web site to gain more visibility.

The best way to make money Google style is to take advantage of all of their free tools. Google AdSense is a great way to make money as you will post advertisements for other companies on your blog or website. You will be paid according to how many people click on the ads each month. Obviously your goal is to try and get your audience to click on the ads, but how to you go about doing this? It’s not as hard as it seems, follow these tips:

Make the ads appear in the content and on the navigation bar. You need to make the ads show up so your audience actually sees them. While you cannot control what the ad says, you can control the color scheme and make it a little “prettier” so it can boost the ads visibility and possibly encourage your audience to click on it.

Increase your website traffic. This one may be easier said than done if you aren’t sure what you are doing. You must be able to attract people by setting yourself apart as the leader in your particular field or industry. Take a look at people like Perez Hilton, how do you think he became such a popular blogger? He has interesting and engaging content and people like to listen to him. Focus on choosing the right keywords and posting relevant information daily to keep your blog at the tip of everyone’s tongues.

Your website must be user friendly. If it is hard to search for certain information or to navigate your page, people will leave.

Internet traffic, of the amount of visitors a site receives, is often directly proportional to the amount of money the site earns. High traffic numbers means more people are viewing Google Adsense or Yahoo Advertising ads, which means more chances for people to click on those valuable ads. Directing traffic to a website can be a bit of chore. Often times the first visit is the easiest visit to get. The daily repeat visitors and subscribers are what can really ignite a website’s traffic statistics.

Strong content is what brings visitors back. Quality content that is well organized and frequently updated helps a website or blog appeal to a large amount of people. Of course using varied keywords throughout the site is also a big help in keeping the site listing well in the search engine directories. No matter what type of content is featured on the site, keeping track of current trends and promoting the appropriate piece everyday is often a full time job. Using social networking sites is a great way to change what piece of content is promoted on a daily basis. I suggest that the main ingredient to be successful in a home based job is your mindset. A traditional job is easier to get since the job is “there” and all you have to do is find an opening and apply. Home base jobs are harder to find, and in many cases you will have to hire with several companies to secure enough work to earn enough money. A lot of work is temporary, seasonal, and the amount of work varies with demand. You may have to continuously hunt down opportunities to keep a steady stream of work flowing. There is great flexibility built in to being a home based agent, but there is a trade off. Having the right mindset means taking responsibility for your own schedule, having the work ethic to work effectively when you’re scheduled to do so, and being persistent in securing enough work to keep you busy and managing your schedule accordingly. By having the right mindset you will find success in working home based jobs and reaping the rewards of time flexibility and convenience of working from home that they offer.
